Congratulations Elizabeth Feller in Powell, Wyoming!

Liz recently graduated from the Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship Program, coordinated by WCAA. We greatly appreciate Liz’s efforts toward raising the level of quality in early child care, not only because of her completion of the program, but as she graduated with honors.

Providers interested in the apprenticeship program, classes start in August at Casper, Laramie County, Northwest and Sheridan Community Colleges. Application For Apprentices

The apprenticeship coordinator selects apprentices who have shown a commitment to a career in the child care field and who meet the program requirements listed below.

  1. Sufficient educational knowledge to complete the OJT (on-the-job training) hours and related technical instruction. A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  2. Apprentice must be at least age eighteen (18) prior to the beginning of the first year of apprenticeship.
  3. Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the occupation without endangering themselves or fellow workers.
  4. Currently working full time (30 to 40 hours per week) in a licensed or legally exempt facility.
  5. Have documented previous child care experience.
  6. Must complete an application, letter of intent, and resume.
  7. Must complete the Apprentice Work Experience and Profile form.
  8. Must show a willingness and commitment to take the time necessary to complete the two-year program.

All applications must be received by June 1st to be considered. A letter of selection will be sent by the end of June to those selected to participate in the program.
